50 years combined experience in the stone and ceramic industry
James Guthrie Commercial stone suppliers

James Guthrie

James arrived at South Coast Stone following graduation from High School in Dorset town Wimborne, at aged 19. His first position in the company was as an estimator, progressing into also assuming Project Management responsibilities on projects across Southern England.

Between the end of James' time at school and beginning of his working career, he pursued his athletic endeavours playing semi-professional football on the South-East Coast, an ambition that he has since relaxed but continued part time while prioritising life in the construction industry.

Within the company, James' focus lies in the commercial department, meaning his work often demands visits to Central London whether for a pre-contract meeting or visit to a live site. His everyday responsibilities include handling architectural drawings, the coordination of installation teams, procurement of materials and ancillaries and the constant communication with Main Building Contractors.

The first few years of working with South Coast Stone saw him part of various different projects, not always utilised the same way, from aiding labour at Centre Court of Wimbledon to assist the estimating of End Clothing's London store. Some of his experience in project management includes 2000m2 of floor tiling at Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherds Bush, high end residential fit out in Belgravia and a full interior renovation in Marylebone.
