Dolphin Shopping Centre - Basalt Columns

South Coast Stone were employed to supply, manufacture and install basalt columns in phase 1 of the refurbishment project at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole.

The Project

With little design information provided to us and minimal information regarding material, South Coast Stone eventually found the desired stone for the new columns whilst on a business venture in China.

Importing, as we have done for over 10 years, containers from China containing the 40mm basalt took 12 weeks and when the material landed South Coast Stone were at hand, ready to make the columns into their bespoke sizes at the first opportunity. Fixing to a metsec frame, our highly experienced installers completed the project within 2 weeks.

A requirement was also made for 2 terrazzo entrances that had to match the existing mall floor. Using over 50 years of combined experience, we used our expansive range of suppliers to locate a fitting match for the two thresholds.
